The original application for the TRS was in manual telephone exchanges.
Also known as phone connector, which outer diameter is 1/4"(6.35mm) with two-conductor(mono).
The interface of male also called TRS male or TRS plug, and
the interface of female called TRS female, TRS jack or TRS socket.
Three-contact versions(Stereo) are known as TRS connectors,
where T means for "tip", R means for "ring" and S means for "sleeve".
Similarly, two-, four- and five- contact versions are
called TS, TRRS and TRRRS connectors respectively.
TRS早期是應用於電話交換機，採用外徑1/4"(6.35mm)，導體為兩極(單音mono)的規格，
用以切換傳遞電話訊號，也被稱為phone connector，介面公端稱為TRS male或是TRS plug，
對鎖件稱為TRS female、TRS jack或是TRS socket。
TRS名稱由其介面部位組合而來，分別為tip、ring及sleeve，在立體音(stereo)的規格被稱為TRS，
在四極(4pole)規格上也被稱為TRRS，五極(5pole)的應用上被稱為TRRRS。
TRS were applied in many field and is still widely used, especially in a audio equipment.
And the related technology were more stable and fully developed,
the TS6.3 interface were used on professional recording equipment,
Electronic musical instruments(for example: electric guitar), mixer, loudspeaker and amplifiers.
On the other hand, the 1/8"(3.5mm) mini connector and 3/32"(2.5mm) sub-mini connector which
are the most commonly used in portable application today.
Such as microphone, earphone, mobile phone and portable media players…etc.
Miniaturized connector were favorable for save the space of equipment,
but it also cause the durability and the structural strength issue.
TRS因被長期的採用及變體發展迄今仍被使用，尤其在音頻的應用上，
也因相關技術較為穩定與成熟，專業錄音設備、電子樂器(如電吉他)、
混音器及耳機擴大機等常可看到TS6.3介面。
介面尺寸較小的1/8"(3.5mm)及3/32"(2.5mm)規格，常見於強調輕便的音頻設備上，
如小型麥克風、耳機、手機及隨身音樂播=放器等，小型化的尺寸有利於縮小行動裝置寶貴的空間，
但微小化也帶來更多耐久性及結構強度的負擔。
TRS are not only used in mono interface (TS plug), but also the most commonly
used in integrated left and right channels stereo interface.
T are corresponded to Left channel, R are corresponded to Right channel,
and the S are corresponded to Ground. On the smartphone application,
usually use 4-conductor (TRRS plug) for its headset (microphone), but the
channels and the function setting might be difference from each equipment makers.
TRS在耳機的應用上除了單耳的TS單音規格外，整合左右聲道的TRS立體規格也相當常見，
其介面通常對應T(Left channel)、R(Right channel)及S(Ground)。在智慧型手機應用上，
通常採用支援麥克風的TRRS四極規格，但通道與功能設定則依各設備商有所差異。
